World Economic effects of the Coronavirus pandemic crisis.

Five charts that show the global economic impact of COVID-19 World Economic Forum.

I invite you to a discussion about the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic. And please focus on concrete examples as much as possible.

I start by giving examples of notifications received in the last two days.

I am sure that most of those who have economic activities connected to the world economy has also received such notifications. From what I see, we are preparing to enter a crisis like no other. But I'm not talking about that now. Now I just want to share the information I received with anyone who might be interested in reading it.

Here are examples to which I add a comment and put the message exactly as I received it, without changes:

Marriot Hotels Chain - A message from our CEO

This hotel chain is known to everyone. Not only is it a big problem for them, but for the whole HoReCa industry.

Employees must be paid whether the hotel is empty or full, the restaurant is selling or no one is coming. There is a limited time in which employers can bear the costs. This message is aimed at customers and is an effort to keep the hotel afloat.

Tripadadvisor - Dear fellow travelers

One of the most important players in the tourism market sends messages in a desperate attempt to save what can be saved. Fear of coronavirus has led to the cessation of all reservations worldwide. It is something that has never existed in history, since the practice of modern tourism.

There have been wars before, but they have never hit globally in tourism. If there was a war in Yugoslavia, tourism in France, Spain, Italy was not affected. Tourism companies do not know how to react because there is no reference.

In transport the situation is complicated. Imposing traffic restrictions, closing many businesses, additional health requirements, employees extremely exposed to contamination, all these lead to difficulties.

Obviously, the messages are not alarmist. Try to calm the panic and inform about the changes.

A large carrier (among the top 10 in the world) SCHENKER announces the imposition of surcharges on containerized transport from Asia.

Note that the surcharge is retroactive, it is announced the imposition of additional costs and those that already have transport in progress.

First Urban City in History

Gone are the days when people lived in the village, having their own households, a portion of arable land, a few animals there.

The population grew, everything became a bit crowded and so the cities were created, which had other functions, commercial and craft, where you live with your neighbors. For 200 years, since industrialization, cities have grown in size, creating an ever-expanding oil and cement civilization. I know that the first city was Mureybet in Syria, founded in 10,000 BC

Then came Catalhoyuk in Turkey,  Jericho in Palestine, Ur, Eridu, Lagas, Ummah, Uruk, and Babylon in Iraq, Dobrovody in Ukraine, Abydos, Thebes and Memphis in Egypt, Mohenjo-Darro and Harrapa in India, Yinxu and Chengzhou in China.

In the classical period, Athens was established in Greece, Alexandria in Egypt, Carthage in Tunisia, etc.  But the first really sexy city was Rome, a real modern city by the standards of the time.

There are many sources that show that Rome was the first city to have 1 million inhabitants in the first century.  You may also like : Inferno "Historical Review and facts"

The second city to reach such a population would be Chang'an in China in the ninth century, Baghdad in Iraq and Kaifeng in China in the 10th century.

The first city with a population of 1,500,000 was Hangzhou in China in 1300.

The first city with a population of over 2 million was London in 1850, in the midst of the revolution. industries.

In 1870, London would have a population of 4 million, and in 1900-6 million.

In 1925, the population of New York City reached 7 million, and after in 1962 to reach 15 million.

But cities are not only measured by area and population, but also by the endowment and quality of life it offers to the population. Mohenjo Daro had a systematized infrastructure. The concept of "citizenship" and "vote" appeared in Athens.

Carthage was a great commercial center, and Alexandria was a true cultural capital.

Carthage - Ancient History Encyclopedia

Baghdad and Constantinople were great cultural and religious centers. Small city-states like Florence, Genoa, or Venice created their commercial maritime empires.

The first industrialized city with infrastructure, modern sewerage, factories, and plants, was London, which faced problems regarding poverty, disease, and congestion. Paris was perhaps the first city of style, a city of entertainment, a capital of fashion.

But the first mega-city was New York because it was not only huge in area, but also in height with its skyscrapers, dominated by jobs in the tertiary sector, being imitated by other cities such as Shanghai, Dubai, Tokyo. and so on.

Strong X-ray emissions from binary system 3A 0726-260 discovered by Indian researchers

A New Signal for a Neutron Star Collision Discovered  NASA

Scientists have established that the origin of this signal is the binary system 3A 0726-260.

Using data provided by the AstroSat satellite, a team of Indian researchers was able to identify strong X-ray emissions from the 3A 0726-260 binary system, which consists of a magnetized neutron star and a regular star. Scientists explain that in the case of these systems, X-ray emissions are based on the material that the neutron star attracts from the atmosphere of the neighboring star, notes Phys.

The 3A 0726-260 system is about 20,000 light-years away, and as Indian scientists explain, it is one of the least studied pulsars in binary systems, although, according to their data. , it tends to be a fairly "bright" source, if we look at X-ray emissions. Astronomers have established that this system has an orbital period of 34.55 days, and the rotation period of the pulsar is 103 seconds.  Also, this 103-second pulse appears to be followed by a secondary, but weaker, pulse detected in another observer's data.

"Changing the pulse profile from a single peak to a double-peaked structure can be explained by the intrinsic change that occurs in the beam pattern from a pencil beam to a hay beam, leading to the beam coming out of our line. visual. The change in the impulse process can also be attributed to a transition of the accretion model from a smooth, low-energy accretion stream to several narrow, high-energy accretion streams that are blocked in phase with the neutron star.
