Another amazing discovery made by archaeologists in The Holy Sepulcher

Church of the Holy Sepulchre photo: franklinnow.com
For decades, archaeologists and theologians have debated whether the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem is really the place where Christ was buried and that he rose after being crucified.

Nowadays, after scientists have obtained the agreement to open the tomb for the first time in 500 years, its content offers "visible evidence that the place where pilgrims venerate today is the same tomb that Roman Emperor Constantine found in century IV "

The tomb was dressed in Marble in the year 1500 to prevent visitors to steal pieces of it or relics. In previous centuries, the famous church was destroyed and rebuilt many times as experts began to have doubts about the exact location of the tomb and its contents.

After lifting the marble plate for the first time after 500 years, researchers have found in limestone shelf that is supposed to be the body of Jesus was laid, says The Mirror. In addition, it was discovered and a second slab of marble unknown to researchers, engraved with a cross believed to have been carved XIIl century by the Crusaders.

Archaeologist Fredrik Hiebert, National Geographic part of the team, said that "the thing that amazed me the most was when I removed the first layer of dust and found a second piece of marble. It was gray, beige not like that from the outside and even in the middle of it was a very nice cross inscribed. I had no idea that such a thing is there. "

Strange text written on an Egyptian papyrus. It contains a magical invocation used by ancient Christians

A Greek papyrus dating back some 1,500 years from an ancient Egyptian city refers to Jesus' Last Supper and manna from heaven.
A small Egyptian papyrus discovered John Rylands library Research Institute of the University of Manchester, it contains one of the oldest "chants" which dates from the early Christian period.

Roberta Mazza stated that the document, which was worn as an amulet, containing a reference to the Last Supper and the "manna fallen from heaven".

It is among the few evidence which shows how the magic was used by Christians in Egypt.

Papyrus, which has existed for 1,500 years, contains fragments of Psalms and the Gospel of Matthew.

Here is the translation of the text:

The translated text on the papyrus reads:

"Fear you all who rule over the earth.

Know you nations and peoples that Christ is our God.

For he spoke and they came to being, he commanded and they were created; he put everything under our feet and delivered us from the wish of our enemies.

Our God prepared a sacred table in the desert for the people and gave manna of the new covenant to eat, the Lord's immortal body and the blood of Christ poured for us in remission of sins."

People of the time believed such passages had magical powers, Mazza told Live Science. Supporting that idea, creases can be seen on the fragment, Mazza said, suggesting the papyrus was folded into a rectangular packet measuring 3 by 10.5 centimeters (1.2 by 4.1 inches), and either placed into a box at home or worn around a person's neck.

Mazza says that when Christians believed that these texts have magical powers. She says the papyrus had been packed into a box of just 3/10 cm and was worn on the neck or kept in the house for magical protection.

Religious texts were written on the back of a document that was used to pay a fee for grain. Papyrus belonged to a tax collector Tertembuthis village, located near the town now called El-Ashmunein.

Interestingly, the person who wrote the text copied him but wrote him personally, because there are many grammar and spelling mistakes, Mazza added.

Papyrus is proof that Egyptians Christians of the past have long kept pagan magical practices while wearing and using amulets.

However, even now some Christians carry their images of saints who have written on various prayers behind you good luck.

After 500 years, Jesus' tomb was open again. '' I was amazed at what I found under the marble '

Jesus' Tomb Opened photo: nationalgeographic.com
For  the first time, researchers have found that surface, is traditionally considered to be the tomb of Jesus. Located Holy Sepulchre Church in Jerusalem tomb was covered with marble tiles in the sixteenth century at the latest.

Fredrik Hiebert, an archaeologist at the National Geographic Society, said that "the marble covering the tomb had been removed and I was amazed at the amount of materials under them. There will be long scientific survey, but in the end we will be able to discover the stone surface of which was deposited the body of Jesus. "

According to tradition, Jesus was lying on a carved stone that came from a limestone cave after being crucified by the Romans in 30 C.E. or perhaps in 33. On three days after his death, he resurrected and women who came to anoint his tomb was found empty. This stone is now attached to a structure called Edicule (from the Latin aedicule, small house), which was subsequently rebuilt between 1808 to 1810 after being destroyed by fire.

The emergence of this tomb gives researchers a great opportunity to study what is considered to be the Christian religion, the most holy place. Analysis of the original stones that will help them discover not only the original shape of the tomb, but also as a place of worship has become since it was identified by Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine in the year 326.

Inside the tomb, the light emanating from candles and lamps make it possible to observe some details that are usually overlooked. Church of the Holy Sepulchre is in this moment, in the custody of the six Christian sects. Greek Orthodox Church, Roman Catholic and Armenian Orthodox Church have the most control over this area, and the status of certain parts of this church which are considered common places of worship for all sects, including the tomb was governed by an agreement custody rights record of all sects.

Edicule that aforementioned integrity restored in the nineteenth century was a dilemma for decades. It was affected by the earthquake in 1927, and British authorities were forced to restore it in 1947, by positioning the outer beams.

In 2015, Partiarhia Greek Orthodox in Jerusalem, with the agreement of 2 other large communities, invited members of the National Technical University of Athens to study the site, and premiered its new restoration was in March this year, which is expected to be completed in spring 2017.

Star of Bethlehem proof Jesus' divine origins ?

For centuries, researchers are wondering if the Star of Bethlehem which guided the Magi to the birthplace of Jesus was a miracle or an astronomical phenomenon common. Fierce debate has not ended even today.

The mystery of the Star of Bethlehem, between faith and science

"And if Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem, asking: Where is the king of the Jews who was born? For we have seen the Eastern His star and have come to us worship him. " Because I find in Jerusalem Magi "departed, and behold, the star that they had seen in the east went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with joy very high. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother ... ". Matthew 2: 1.

Attempts to explain scientific phenomena were made from the early fourteenth century. Since then, a myriad of theories and hypotheses about the Star of Bethlehem and the "behavior" strange they were launched by researchers more or less credible. It said the star was a supernova, a ball lightning, even a UFO. Today, although there is an explanation that scientifically aware of the biblical account, the mystery is far from being cleared up. To discover what was the Star of Bethlehem have to slam many biblical contradictions; first, however, you have to solve another mystery, perhaps greater, which is the exact date of the birth of Jesus?

A star appears above the Holy Land and announces the birth of the Messiah. It is seen by the Magi - or sages - from the East, who are guided by it until you get to Bethlehem, where he discovers the baby Jesus. This biblical story has not lost its charm even now, more than 2,000 years after the events he narrates. For practitioners and some faithful Christians, the Star of Bethlehem story simply register miraculous deeds that occurred on the eve of Christ's birth and needs no explanation. But is it blasphemy to go further than that, that is to use scientific methods to reveal more details about Star? The answer is no.

Over time, many theologians, historians and astronomers have tried to unravel the mystery of the Star, hoping to put such information in the Gospel according to Matthew historical and scientific data. None has definitively resolved the dilemma, all lost in a complicated maze of conflicting data, errors and unverifiable predictions. However, the researchers made the shocking discovery about the historical and cultural context in which the events took place in the Holy Land at the beginning of the first millennium of the Christian era.

For instance, today, scientists agreed on the fact that if Steaua has existed and has guided the Magi, then certainly their arrival in Bethlehem has not spent one day December 25 last 2009 years. As we celebrate today, the birthday of the Savior was fixed in the year 525 AD by a Christian monk Dionysius Exiguus. Some theologians and many researchers believe that Dionysius was wrong and that Jesus would actually born in the year 5 BC Regarding December 25, it was chosen to overlap over a much older pagan holiday, dedicated to Deus Solus Invictus or Apollo-Helios.

Assuming that the date fixed by Dionysius as a convention, some researchers have argued that Star from Bethelehem was predictable astronomical phenomena, such as the conjunction of two planets. Regular movement of celestial bodies allow the calculation of such events: if you have enough information, you can predict, for example, all conjunctions that will occur in the future between Jupiter and Saturn, and in addition, you can find the exact dates on which held a such an event in the past. The conjunction of the planets proved but a red herring, because no such phenomenon did not occur in close proximity to the birth of Jesus. No other explanation of the nature of astronomical able to realize the Star of Bethlehem - like a supernova explosion - not likely. Therefore, some scientists have expanded their area of research, trying to use historical events to reveal more details about Star.

When was born, in fact, Jesus?

A hint key is the death of King Herod who, according to all the records known, occurred very shortly before the birth of Jesus, shortly after a lunar eclipse and before the feast of Passover (Hebrew Passover feast, which commemorates the Exodus Jews in Egypt). Lunar eclipse is a phenomenon predictable, so appealing to astronomy, researchers imposed as year of birth of the Saviour year 5 BC On the other hand, Passover takes place in the 15th day of Nisan (after the Hebrew calendar), which fall between March 15 and April 30. Because of congestion caused by this big celebration, Mary and Joseph found a place in town to be accommodated. They are received in exchange pastors who graze their flocks on the hills around Bethlehem's (very logic of occupation in the spring months, but highly unlikely in December).

Therefore, Star appearance as an astronomical event that has happened in year 5 BC, and Jesus would be born in the spring. Knowing all this data, Florentine artist Giotto (1267-1337) of his works featured in the Star as a comet - the most famous of all: Comet Halley (see below). But Giotto was cheated 7 years, because according to all modern calculations, Halley was shown in the year 12 BC (And therefore could not be the Star of the Magi).

It has long been believed that Star would indicate a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. But the phenomenon closest to Jesus' birth year was spent in 7 BC - Therefore too early. However, recent research conducted by Mark Kidger from the Institute of Astrophysics in Tenerife, shows that event conjunction yet may be important in solving the mystery. After 2,000 years, these phenomena were considered extremely important in astrological terms. The conjunction of the year 7 BC showed the planet "royal" Jupiter in the constellation Pisces, which astrologically is related to Hebrew. For any ancient initiated - as were the Magi - this conjunction was clearly a signal. "The conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in 7 BC since played an important role in warning of the Magi, even if she was not the Star of Bethlehem," said Professor Kidger.

Cosmic possibilities

JUPITER
Astronomer Michael Molnar thinks Star of Bethlehem were actually Jupiter, the planet partially hidden by the Moon in the year 6 BC Detailed calculations of this cosmic event shows however that the occultation of Jupiter (which took place from 17 April 6th century BC) could not be visible from Earth.

METEORITE
Sir Patrick Moore, British astronomer most important of all time, suggested the idea that a particularly bright meteor could offer absolution dilemma. However, the Gospel of Matthew clearly deduce that the star was a celestial body that shone every night for a very long time.

MIRA
In 2002, Costantino Sigismondi, of the University of Rome, proposed as an explanation flickering variable star called Mira. Although the hypothesis has provoked much debate awhile, it was concluded that that star shine so vague that it could not attract the attention of the Magi.

Ball lightning
Michael Kamieńsk of the University of Krakow, suggest that Steaua would have been ball lightning, a phenomenon that occurs only rarely during a storm. Beyond that a ball lightning would not have guided the Magi from Persia in Judea, it is very difficult and confused with a star.

VENUS

In some years, on Christmas Eve, the planet shines particularly intense, leaving the impression that triples its size. However, Venus does not move far like a star faring, and how were the Magi experienced some astronomers had recognized planet once.

In the entire Bible, the only text that appears in the story of the Magi and the Star is the Gospel of Matthew. But Matthew does not say anywhere that the wise men were three - was reached this popular belief long after the writing of the New Testament - and did not give us their names. He says only that they were "Magi from the East." From this information we deduce that the Sages were Persian origin, coming from an ancient Zoroastrian caste of priests, astrologers and prophets.

Wise Men. Who are the three mysterious initiates who come to worship Jesus?

Herodotus, who lived about 500 years before Christ and was chronicler of wars Greco-Persian, reveal that the Magi (Maguire in Persian) were originally from the Medes (today Medina, a city-symbol of Islam, located in Saudi Arabia) and formed an elite class of the Persian Empire. After several unsuccessful attempts to gain control of political power in the empire, the caste of the Magi experienced a total transformation process: a "given" policy piety, among them spring out of the most respected teachers and enlightened ancient Persia. In addition, the Magi were considered specialists in the interpretation of dreams and guessing stars. There are reasons for that, with time, their caste seized all positions religious empire, becoming priests sages officials Zoroastrianism, the ancient Persian religion. A prophecy of his Zarathushtra, the legendary founder of Zoroastrianism, says a virgin will give birth to a Saoshyant (Savior) which will purify the universe and bring paradise. More than 2,000 years after it was filed prophecy, three wise men, Balthasar, Melchior, and Gaspar (as they were called in apocryphal texts), had a common view of Esfahan, identifying him Savior announced Zarathushtra with baby Jesus. Moreover, between the Persian prophet who lived in the second millennium BC and Jesus Christ are very many similarities, various historians of religions claiming that the authors of biblical texts were strongly influenced by Zoroastrianism.

Biblical Contradictions. How much confidence can we have, from historically, in the Biblical story of the Star of Bethlehem?

New Testament aim is to narrate like a history book, the events that occurred in the first 100 years of Christianity. Therefore, anyone who tries to solve the mystery of Star will face a lot of gaps and contradictions, if the Gospels look like some historical chronicles. Episode birth of Jesus is mentioned in only two gospels - the Luke and the Matthew; of the four evangelists, Matthew speaks only star and the Magi. For major historical works from the early first millennium, both Matthew and Luke are regarded as some chroniclers reasonable.

The trouble starts with details of Holy Birth - details which, unfortunately, are crucial to any theory related to the Star of Bethlehem. For example, Matthew says that Jesus was born "in the days of Herod the king," which chronicles all the weather records that died in 4 BC According to Luke, however, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Galilee while Joseph and his fiancee, Maria, went to register with the census ordered by Augustus.

"This registration was made when Quirinius was governor of Syria on the first," says Luke (Luke 2: 2), ie 10 years later compared to the time given by Matthew. Atari still discrepancies should not surprise us, considering the fact that both gospels were written about 70 years after the events they describe.

To reach Messiah, magi had traveled a significant distance for those times: 1,500 km, they have traveled in a few weeks. From the biblical story, especially in imaging and folklore which were born around it, we deduce that Star shone throughout the whole journey; more than that, it was moved, guiding and the prophets. Judging from these assumptions, The star could have a ball lightning or a meteorite. However, such astronomical phenomena takes too little. Only two candidates remain "function" Star.

Novel theory

400 years ago, German astronomer Johannes Kepler suggested that the Star of Bethlehem was a supernova. At the time, Kepler did not have enough information to prove their hypothesis. But today we know that the death of a giant star in a natural thermonuclear explosion is a phenomenon very bright, which leaves traces in the universe. One could justify such "guidance" Magi. But nowhere in the world, even the ancient Chinese astronomers , have not found any records regarding the supernova (appearance which, if it occurred, would have been visible from across the globe).

The fact that neither King Herod nor the other people of Jerusalem did not know the existence of the Star before the arrival of the Magi suggest that its presence was not an untrained eye out - contrary to popular belief that Star would have been a very shiny object. Starting from this trade, in 1999, Professor Mark Kidger formula for the first assumption that Star of Bethlehem was the effect of another type of stellar explosion, less spectacular, known as a nova. A nova could shine like a star and, in addition, it may give the feeling that moves like a meteor, corresponding information provided by the story.

Moreover, Korean and Chinese astronomers recorded the existence of a nove even 5th year in BC (Which would actually be born Christ). Solve the mystery of Star Kidger's hypothesis? From a scientific standpoint, this is the most plausible explanation we have.

Erupts as a nova?

In the universe, most known stars belong to binary systems consisting of pairs of stars orbiting around each other. In some cases, a red giant star called it locks into an orbit very close to a celestial body smaller (about the size of Earth) called white dwarf. Red giant is actually a star that stage of life environments in which it has consumed a large portion of the hydrogen and the approaching end of life. It is red because it has a low temperature. White dwarf represents the core of the former red giant and is in the form of a compact stars formed from what remains after a star has traveled medium red giant stage.

When red giant locks on a close orbit of the white dwarf, the latter enhanced gravity draws material from the larger star. Stolen material (composed mainly of hydrogen) is wrapped around a disc also dwarf. After thousands of years, spiral shell of hydrogen becomes so hot and dense that produces a devastating natural thermonuclear explosion. The result is the transformation of dwarves and giants in one cosmic body, a nova, which shines approximately 100,000 times stronger than the two former stars who have given birth.

Instant nuclear fusion could be an answer to the mystery nove genesis of the Eastern Star?

It has long been believed that Star of Bethlehem would have been a supernova. Call supernova explosion at the end of a star's life during which much of the material the star is scattered in space. Following the phenomenon remains a neutron star or a black hole. Supernova is the most glamorous event in the universe. The fact that no one on Earth has not recorded any occurrence of supernova in proximity birth of the Savior laid but researchers think.

In 1999, British astronomer Mark Kidger, of the Institute of Astrophysics in Tenerife, formulated a hypothesis which, in scientific terms, it seems best to solve the mystery and more Star of Bethlehem. According to Kidger, Steaua would have been a so-called nova. Less visually spectacular than supernova, nova is a phenomenon that occurs when hydrogen is a star "stolen" from another star (see box below).

In his Star of Bethlehem from the perspective of an astronomer, published in 1999, Kidger demonstrate that a nova corresponds to the key elements of the biblical story - from its looks simple star, to the ability to guide the wise men from the East (which they had outstanding knowledge - including our time - astronomy) on their long journey from Persia in Judea. Moreover, ancient Chinese astronomers recorded and Korea in mid-March of the year 5 BC, the emergence of a bright celestial object in the constellation Hawk - date confirms the results of research into year and month of birth of Christ . Kidger indicated and binary system that spawned the Star of Bethlehem: this is called DO Aquilae and is today in a phase of "hibernation".

Secrets Behind the Shroud of Jesus from Turin

To say that the Vatican has historically tried to hide malicious authenticity of the Shroud of Turin may seem, at first glance, a paradox inexpensive and lacking substance. Why would the clergy to deny a truth that, pragmatic thinking, would not only bring benefits? Yet, there are some who argue that a confirmation of the authenticity of the sacred relics could radically change our understanding of Western civilization. In the face of such evidence would inevitably have rewritten history.

About the authenticity of the Shroud were written thousands of articles, books and treatises. Dozens of experts have tried to prove the truth or that it would only be a medieval forgery. By its nature, the relic born today paradoxes: to be proven as false and destroy such a myth for millions of faithful Christians, or to recognition in the fundamentals of hitting authenticity same Christian religions. The mere chance or good plan in place, the Shroud of Turin remains as controversial as seven centuries ago, and nature, human or divine, and today continues to be a fierce discussion topic.

Short history of the Shroud of Turin

Officially, the shroud in which it is assumed that Jesus was wrapped after the crucifixion appears immediately on the scene in 1357, year in which Jeanne de Vergy, the widow Knight Geoffroi de Charny (killed at the Battle of Poitiers in September 13, 1356), finds among goods deceased husband and expose him in the abbey of Lirey, France. Soon, Bishop of Troyes, Henri de Poitiers, prohibit public exposure to under why it would be just a painting and the veneration by the faithful they would be heresy. In 1389, another bishop, Pierre D'Arcis announced that the Shroud was a fake and that the author or was caught and admitted the offense. He does not mention the name but never farsorului and the argument that we bring for his hypothesis is not only that the existence artifact is mentioned nowhere in the Scriptures

A accusations without solid coverage, obsolete over time. Noble Humbert of Villersexel is the first to take the artifact and hides it in his own castle for fear of thieves. Louisa of Savoy (who paid a hefty sum of money annually abbey of Lirey to give up claims of ownership of the relic), is the next owner of the Shroud and expose it to the public in many European cities. Since 1532 relic take possession of the House of Savoy and remains so until 1983, the year is donated to the Vatican.

Shroud and promote its image in the world. But a shock provokes negative photographer. The picture shows how it clear "image of a man in distress" man with all the wounds that Jesus would have had when it was lowered from the Cross.

Holy See accept radiocarbon dating of the Shroud, an event that takes place in 1988, and that brings a disturbing result ... According to tests, the artifact was a medieval fake, created somewhere between 1260 and 1390. Later, scientists who conducted research has admitted that it is likely that the Shroud of Turin to be genuine, as long as the analyzes were strongly influenced by traces of fire 1532 fire that caused burns on much of the surface of the object and which would be distorted dating results carbon. For better protection of the material, it was locked in a silver box, exposed today in Turin Cathedral. As for the authenticity of the Shroud, opinions are still divided.

Proof of authenticity

Perhaps the simplest and to urge the originality observation is that the Shroud was created, if we are to believe radiocarbon tests in full Middle Ages, a golden age for counterfeiters relics. Dozens of "head of John the Baptist", a lot of chips and Graaluri Cross which was crucified Saviour, goose feather feathers sold as a cherub or any "artifact" that had contact with anyone who was associated with Jesus circulated fake markets of the time. And yet, there is only one shroud. Why not replicated author or a work masterfully perfected that certainly would have made a lot of money? Why not created and shrouds with images of saints or apostles?

Going on seniority artifact idea is interesting opinion reputed journalist Ian Wilson, one of the most vocal supporters of the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin. He says the linen printed with the image of the Saviour was adored in the first centuries of the first millennium in Edessa (Urfa in Turkey present location), important early Christian center in what was then Syria. Subsequently, the Shroud is transported to Constantinople, in Hagea Sofia, where captures a note left by Archdeacon Gregory Refendarius in 944 - "Non Figure sed tantum facial Totius corporis Figure screening poteris" (You can see not only the face, but also the entire body image ), a testament that makes a direct reference to the sacred relic.

The year 1205 brings a new proof of the existence of the Shroud before the date that is officially recognized. This is a note of Theodor Angelos, nephew of Byzantium, which describes the Codex Chartularium Culisanense a short inventory of assets taken by the Knights Templar in Constantinople: "Venetians turned their attention to gold, silver and ivory, while French did the same with sacred relics and most valuable of all, canvas in which our Lord Jesus Christ was wrapped after the crucifixion and resurrection before. Items were taken to Venice and France, while the Shroud was taken in Athens. "

Reconstitution of the image of the Savior after the Shroud of Turin
Some historians claim that the Shroud took possession knight Otto de la Roche, later Duke of Athens. Another source indicates it Tibault of Champagne, who plundered Constantinople Templar leader, as the author of theft. Coincidentally or not, the abbey of Lirey, the place where the Shroud is mentioned first time from a reliable source, it is right on the field. Interesting to note is the fact that Geoffroi de Charny, knight whose wife expose artifact in the abbey of Lirey, is none other than the grandson of Geoffrey of Charney, Templar leader burned Jaques de Molay with in 1314. Was it Shroud even that Grail which so much has been written throughout history and what is believed to have been discovered by the Knights Templar?

No further assumptions above are from Hungary and a manuscript dated in the period 1192-1195, the Saviour is represented image while it is wrapped in the shroud mortuary. The similarities between the images on the Shroud of Turin manuscript and are striking, emphasizing that it was known long before him to be officially recognized.

Aside from data provided by historians, we focus on results provided by chemists, data supporting the authenticity of linen again. The chemist Alan Adler, cited by Time magazine says that blood which is impregnated with the Shroud is real and, moreover, as revealed in the tests, blood clot particularities. If possible forger wanted to give authenticity to his creation a blood spewing, you would expect it to clot? At that time, be it ancient or Middle Ages, the possibility that any person to have knowledge of the chemical composition of blood and the fact that it borders on the absurd change in clotting time. A noteworthy detail is the crucifixion wounds resulting from. Contrary to widespread religious image at the time, do not have crucified character prints of the nails in his hands and feet but in the joints. Only recently it was shown that an execution by crucifixion take place in this way. Where, then, would have known prankster same technique extinct for centuries?

Those who support the idea of a conspiracy by the Vatican to the Shroud of Turin, including journalists Jonathan Vankin and John Whalen, are convinced that recognition of its authenticity would amount to a veritable storm in the Christian world. Why?

The fabric and how was buried man whose face remained impregnated shroud are identical to those of a small sect Israel i.Hr proliferated between centuries II and I d. AD ... Essenes. It mentioned that the same Essenes are Gnostic manuscripts and authors of the Dead Sea manuscripts remained largely unpublished in the twentieth century after their discovery

It recognizes that the whole Christianity derives its origins in pre-Christian sect that would mean, first, a denial of one of the principles promoted by Catholicism, is that there was no Christianity before Christ. A true heresy. In addition, if Jesus would have been part of the Gnostics, it would mean that the Vatican has persecuted and killed dozens of followers of an authentic

Christian religions. Remember only the culmination of the campaign anti-Gnostic Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars (1209 - 1229), the campaign resulted in the nearly 20,000 victims and legislating Inquisition.

He knew Henri de Poitiers and Pierre d'Arcis, first bishops who have called for a ban Shroud exposure, these details? He had tried them and those who followed them to impose a "monopoly" on the history and image of Jesus? These are questions to which we probably never find the answer. The fact is that despite dozens of tests and historical evidence, the true origin of the Shroud of c will remain unknown for long.

In a press conference held on Tuesday, in Rome, Barbara Frale, researcher of the Vatican Secret Archives, said the Knights Templar owned and secretly venerated the Shroud of Turin for over 100 years . The announcement not only shed light on the Shroud disappears century of public attention in medieval Europe, but it comes and attest to its age and contradicts radiocarbon tests showed you a fake as the XIV century. However, Barbara Frale not said if the relic is only one authentic or fake, leaving further held suspicions.

The real hidden message in Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper: Claims artist left out halos to show Jesus was a 'common mortal'

Though earlier artwork depicted the 13 subjects as saints, da Vinci’s work, pictured, suggests the disciples were common people, and that Jesus himself was actually mortal. This is due to a lack of halos, which can be seen in all earlier versions of the scene

Leonardo da Vinci’s painting is not the only version of The Last Supper. All earlier versions of the scene paint Jesus and disciples each with a haloBut, da Vinci's version omits this feature, implying they are common menExperts say this suggests the artist was indicating that Jesus was mortal

While da Vinci’s painting may be the most widely recognized, it is not the only version of The Last Supper, the Smithsonian Channel explains. There are numerous other renditions of Jesus and the 12 disciples that preceded da Vinci’s 15th century painting.

And, all others have one thing in common which sets them apart from their successor – halos.
In da Vinci’s version of this scene, not even Jesus is shown to have a halo around his head.

‘Before Leonardo da Vinci, all versions of The Last Supper showed Jesus and his disciples with halos, in effect, portraying them as saints,’ the video explains.

‘But, da Vinci chose to ignore this convention and paint them without halos.’

THE SECRET MESSAGE

Though the claims made in the novel and film The Da Vinci Code were false, experts say there is actually a hidden message in Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper.

This can be seen in the lack of a halo around each of the 13 subjects' heads.

In all earlier versions of the scene, Jesus and his disciples are each shown with a halo, depicting them in a saint-like way.

Da Vinci's omission of this feature suggests they were common men, and that Jesus was mortal.

There are numerous other renditions of Jesus and the 12 disciples that preceded da Vinci’s 15th century painting. And, all others have one thing in common which sets them apart from their successor – halos. A painting from the 14th century is pictured above

In da Vinci’s version of this scene, not even Jesus is shown to have a halo around his head. In the 14th century painting above, all subjects at the table are shown to have a halo

In the novel The Da Vinci Code, and the film that followed, the painting played a critical role, with the story claiming that the figure sitting to Jesus’s right is Mary Magdalene, rather than the disciple John.

This was said to imply that Mary was ‘The Holy Grail.’
The arguments made in the fictional book were met with harsh criticism by some, and experts say there is no doubt that the figure is actually John.

But, in one way, the novel wasn’t entirely off the mark in its interpretation of the painting, according to Smithsonian.

‘Leonardo da Vinci is communicating a subtle message with his Last Supper,’ the video explains. ‘He’s telling us that Jesus was a mortal – a theme echoed in The Da Vinci Code.’

According to Taddei, the people depicted in da Vinci’s painting are not saints but are instead ‘simple men,’ implying that Jesus, too, was mortal. The artwork above, painted just years before da Vinci's version, shows Jesus and each of the 12 disciple with a halo around their heads

The Divine Power That Is in the Believer

In Matthew 13:11, Jesus told the disciples, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to [the crowd] it has not been granted." As followers of Christ, we, too, have the privilege to know all of the truths God has chosen to reveal in Scripture.

But do you ever feel as if other believers are somehow in on a secret that you don't know? Do you ever have the sense that they have managed to solve the mystery of how to rejoice in suffering, conquer sin, forgive the unforgivable, or live a life of love in ways you haven't yet discovered?

If that's your situation, then I have good news for you. So draw near to hear, and open your eyes to see the truth: The secret to living the Christian life is to become best friends with the Holy Spirit. He has all the right qualities for that role and will not disappoint you-the Bible teaches us that the Spirit of God is someone we can lean on, who helps us make the right decisions, and with whom we can share our deepest feelings (John 14:17; 16:13; 2 Cor. 13:14).

And the Holy Spirit offers believers much more. He loves us, protects us, and assists when we pray. He also works in and through us with divine power, and helps us to become like Jesus.

God's Spirit is a person with whom we can have a close personal relationship-and He has our best interest at heart. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you through the Scriptures, and then be prepared to have a friend unlike any earthly companion-one who is with you constantly, whispering of your heavenly Father's mercy and your Savior's love.

5 Myths About Christianity and Modern Life

bible

Christianity is the world's largest religion by a landslide. At over 2 billion adherents there is no religion or belief system even close. But the big guy is always an easy target. Write a book calling Jesus a zealot, point out an example of hypocrisy or just declare some biblical value as narrow-minded and you will have loads of mostly unchallenged media attention.

The half-truths, lies and myths about Christianity seem to increase at the rate of social media growth. There are falsehoods about science and Christianity, the divinity of Christ and the veracity of the Bible. There are so many half-truths it would take volumes to dispel them. And there are the myths. These are five that warrant examination.

Jesus Was Only A Teacher & Zealot

Jesus claimed to be God. He claimed to forgive people's sins, humanity would be accountable to him and he was the way, truth and life. He was much more than just a teacher. He was certainly not a revolutionary, in fact, large numbers of people stopped following him when he did not preach an overthrow of the Roman occupation.

All in One: the Gentle and Fierce Nature of God and Jesus - Bible

Jesus has never been accused of being a liar nor did his followers lie about him since the gospels were not written in a mythic style. He did not have a messiah complex, which involves incredible egotism, inability to love and no compassion for others, none of which remotely resembles Jesus.

Maybe what really bothers some is Jesus' claim as the only way to God. The religion of secular culture is "equality" and Jesus message sounds scandalous. He preached equality amongst people but for himself he made it clear he was the savior of the world.

People Become Christians Through Social Conditioning

Myths can mix a little truth with a lot of error. It is true that many people become Christ followers when they are young influenced by their family and upbringing. But the greatest social conditioning of any person happens when they attend a college or university. No one can honestly deny the significant changes that take place while a person is in the college environment.

This social conditioning can change a person's morality, politics and faith. Lenin said, "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted." Far from Christianity conditioning people to faith, the academy does everything it can to condition them away from faith.

Christianity Is A Crutch For The Weak

A crutch presupposes a need and some type of aid. Those who dismiss Christianity as a crutch are denying their own weaknesses. What mentally healthy person says they have no needs? It is emotionally weak to deny your innate neediness. What relationship has any hope of longevity when one person denies they have needs? A person who has fears of vulnerability or dependency might not acknowledge her needs. Someone who has pride and wants to be self-sufficient (as if anyone really can be) might not state his needs. But healthy people know they have needs and Christ meets those needs. Jesus is not a crutch he is a cure for the sin disease that plagues every one of us.

Christianity Stifles Personal Freedom

Researchers at Harvard, Duke and other universities have found that Christian faith and church attendance are associated with less social isolation, lower risk of substance abuse, lower rates of suicide, greater happiness and life satisfaction.

This does not sound like people who are not free. Jesus' truth sets us free from self-deception. False freedom can actually lead a person into behaviors that result in life controlling issues.

Those who say their freedom is stifled really mean they don't want standards that place absolute claim on them. They want freedom to do whatever they want without being accountable to God. Jesus gives us freedom not to do whatever we want but to become all we were meant to be.

Christianity Is Irrelevant to Modern Life
Christian-world-map
Christianity speaks to real life – work, finances, relationships, health, success, sex and more. The
Bible provides principles which help with life issues any person may face. Beyond church services the ways to access this information is more abundant than ever including podcasts, blogs, videos, apps and more.

No group, institution or government does more for the social needs of people than the Church. Poverty alleviation, educating children, disaster relief are all being addressed by Christ followers in a stunning number of ways.

Of course universal spiritual issues like the meaning of life, what happens when we die and purpose for living are all questions for which Christianity uniquely provides answers. Millions of transformed lives prove all these myths to be untrue.

10 reasons to rewrite history

It is said that those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. Meanwhile, any historian will tell you that the past, often, is something that you did not want to relive it. Yet history, as we know it today abounds with myths and false personalities who have almost nothing in common with records or deeds attributed to them. Here are some of the major concepts that should be radically amended and that influenced people, wrongly, centuries or even millennia.

10. Eve had eaten the apple of sin

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, says a universal dictum. Yet, apples boasts one of the worst reputations when it comes to the myth of genesis and the first people fall into sin. Thousands of paintings, sculptures, works written or sung, it shows Eve eating of an apple and tempting Adam to taste the forbidden fruit of the same deity. Well, nowhere is mentioned in the holy

In fact, in Genesis, Eve is tempted by the "fruit of knowledge" found in the tree that grows in the middle of the garden of Eden. Nobody knows exactly who hypothesized the presence of an apple, as long as he could be anything: a pear, a pineapple, a mango or other fruit known to men. Moreover, there is the view that "the fruit of knowledge" or an apple if you prefer, is but a metaphor of "original sin" that would have landed the first humans.

9. Isaac Newton was hit by apple

We return again to the same apple, fruit which seems to dominate a good part of our history. Legend of the illustrious British physicist, Isaac Newton was hit by an apple while meditating in your own garden - reason to issue later theory of universal gravitation - it is one notorious. But even that failed enlightened fruit in the scientist's head?

Most historians agree that this story is just a legend. In reality, the story of Newton's apple appeared in an essay published opment, long after the world as the physicist had passed. Before that, Catherine Conduitt, granddaughter of Isaac Newton, was the only one who mentioned the story though, most likely, it was just a contrivance designed to attract good advertising on the survivors of the scientist.

8. Napoleon was a man of short stature

He remained in history as "Le petit corporal" - Little Corporal - reason enough for some to compare him with another "little corporal" of the twentieth century. One whose intentions to conquer the world have been broken and disastrous as all the gates of Moscow. Both were actually the same character, Antichrist, but this is a hypothesis (fantasy) that not going to treat it in this article. What interests us is how "small" was entitled Napoleon and how is the image acquired in history.

He said, over time, especially by the French king's enemies, as his ambitions to dominate Europe were the result of its low height, a complex that Napoleon tried to compensate by military victories. In fact, Napoleon had a height of 174 centimeters, far above the average men of the eighteenth century. Nickname "little corporal" came as a result of a habit of the French army, through which mocked their superiors in rank subordinates. This remained true even after Napoleon became emperor.

7. James Cook discovered Australia

If we had wanted to be demanding "to blood," we have said that Australia was discovered by Aboriginal ancestors somewhere about 40,000 years ago. About 40 millennia before James Cook to see the light of day. But we leave aside this theory (ironic) and turn our attention to the "rediscovery" of Australia, this time by European seafarers.

History tells us that James Cook first set foot on the current beach in Sydney, in 1770. What made but English navigator and geographer was to identify the east coast of the continent to the antipodes and perform its proper mapping . In fact, Australia has been reached for the first time the Dutch Dirk Hartog and Abel Tasman, followed by Englishman William Dampier, the same captain who abandoned him on Alexander Selkirk (aka Robinson Crusoe) on a deserted island in the Pacific. The myth of James Cook discovered Australia have added yet a concept that was grounded, erroneously, in people's consciousness. Any student learn today that the little continent was "uncovered" by "Captain" Cook. A serious mistake if we think that, in 1770, the Englishman was not more than a lieutenant in the British Army.

6. Shakespeare wrote "Hamlet"

It is known as the greatest writer and playwright who ever lived, and this despite the fact that nobody knows who he really was. Shakespeare is certainly a pseudonym, and the man behind or remained even today, covered in mystery. What is known, however, less is that his works are immortal, in reality, takeovers and adaptations of old stories.

Take, for example, the tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, written in 1603 - perhaps the most famous work of the illustrious playwright. Although the credit belongs entirely Shakespeare's Hamlet's story has its origins in an ancient Scandinavian myth of ... you guessed it, Denmark. The original has not been preserved, but we can say that the English version is entitled, however, the most successful.

5. America became independent on July 4, 1776

In any school in the world, the history lesson, the teachers will say that the independence of the United States was obtained 4 July 1776. In fact, July 4 is even US national day. Without mistakes we can say, however, that scientists rushed this date, and history textbooks should be amended.

After seven years of war between American States and Britain, King George III and US officials declared a cessation of hostilities on 3 September 1783. Basically, that day came into force the Act of Independence signed on July 4, 1776.

4. Edison invented the light bulb

Although it is one of the most prolific inventors in history (1,093 inventions), Thomas Edison is not the father in law of many of them. The reality is that some belong technicians who worked with him, while others have not even seen the light in his lab. Take, for example, the light bulb, the most famous invention of Edison. It was invented four decades before Thomas Edison was born. The author? English scientist, Sir Davy Hamphry. And yet, how he came to be recognized as a parent Edison's light bulb?

3. George Washington was America's first president

Everyone knows that Washington was the first President of the United States (of the 43 presidents in history). The reality is, however, different. During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress (or the US Congress) he chose Peyton Randolph as the first president. Randolph's first political move was to create an army to oppose England, and topped it even called him George Washington.

In 1781, Randolph was succeeded by John Hancock. After Washington's victory at the Battle of Yorktown, Hancock sent him a congratulatory American general, he answering them through another missive that is with the nickname "president of the United States." Eight years after the war, and after another two presidents, Washington, The benefits of the huge political capital gained through victory against England, he became the first democratically elected president. Strictly speaking, however, George Washington was only the fifth US president.

2.Ferdinand Magellan made the first trip around the world

Without going into details, almost everyone knows two things about Portuguese navigator large and wide, Ferdinand Magellan. The first is that made the first trip around the world (between 1519 and 1522). The second is that he was killed on 22 April 1521 by natives in the Philippines. It seems, however, that no one barely visible contradiction of terms between the two statements

1. Jesus was born on December 25

Christmas is the biggest celebration of Christianity, at which all celebrate the birth of Christ. There is, however, no mention biblical or otherwise indicating 25 December as the one in which Jesus was born. Currently, there are several hypotheses about the origins of Christmas, but perhaps the most important is related to the cult of the god Mithras Hellenistic, cult emerged around 100 BC

Its believers were convinced that Mithra was born on December 25 of a virgin mother, and that this event has happened in a manger. A striking resemblance more than the Christian celebration of Christmas. Many voices say that the early Christians tried to make people forget the powerful cult of Mithras, and so they replaced it with the celebration of Christmas. In fact, many other pagan holidays were changed, and in their place were adapted to Christian holidays.
