The US Army will build the world's most powerful laser weapon

It is assumed that such weapons will dominate future wars.

US Navy makes steady progress in terms of developing weapons based on laser technology. The most powerful device of this type has a capacity of 30 kilowatts and was installed aboard a military vessel. Recently, it was announced in a conference plan to produce a much more efficient, with a power of 150 kilowatts.

Representatives of Naval Research Center of the US Navy told the conference that the laser will be tested in the near future, aboard a military ship. So far, the most powerful system of this type of device remains 30 kilowatts installed on the USS Ponce. Weapons were used so far during US military operations in the Persian Gulf.

Laser guns used so far on board USS Ponce proved to be highly efficient when used to destroy their targets moving slowly. However, there is no assurance that the same system will be used to shoot down drones successfully employed increasingly more often during conflicts.

The US military this summer is to test the effectiveness of laser weapons installed on helicopters. Moreover, the devices will be installed aboard large aircraft and trucks built specifically for this purpose
