It was discovered, a new painting by Caravaggio ( Martirio di San Lorenzo )

A new painting belonging to the famous Italian painter Caravaggio was discovered in Rome, according to L'Osservatore Romano, the official newspaper of the Vatican.

Entitled Martirio di San Lorenzo, the picture that is in the possession of the Jesuit Catholic order. Although authentication final painting is not complete yet, experts say the artist's works belongs almost certainly the most important representative of the current Baroque painting, as painting shows many of the typical personal style of Italian artist Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571 - 1610) and the dramatic effects of light, or unique perspective from which the subject can be seen painting.

Saint Lawrence of Rome, was burned in the year 258, during the persecution of Christians in order of Emperor Valerian.

Coincidence or not, Italy celebrates the 400th anniversary this year anniversary of the death of Caravaggio. On this occasion, a number of churches and art galleries will mark time by exposing the artist's most important works, which can be admired including at night.

Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio was born in 1571 in Milan and was a pioneer of the current Baroque is famous for his duels. After such a duel, Caravaggio killed his opponent, was forced to leave Rome, the city where he won fame both artistic and friendship and protection of many aristocrats and cardinals.

Caravaggio died mysteriously on July 18, 1610. Last month an Italian anthropologist announced that it has discovered the remains of the artist, after some digging in the Porto ENCO, the remains are dated with carbon-14, and their DNA being minutely analyzed. Some theories of his death suggests that he was killed on a secluded beach in Tuscany, or has collapsed there after an illness.

Mona Lisa nude version , painted by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting was found in a private collection

Leonardo da Vinci painted her famous Mona Lisa in several versions, including one nude Announces Discovery News. New painting, discovered after centuries, depicting mysterious woman in an original version and similarities between the two portraits, it and the classic, are striking.

"Even if painting is called  Mona Vanna, eyes front, hand position, the concept of space and dark background, all go to think of the Mona Lisa iconographic theme," said Alessandri Vezza, director of the museum in Toscana.


The portrait belonged to Napoleon's uncle, Cardinal Joseph Fesch (1763-1839) and was hidden in the wooden wall of his personal library. Moreover, the painting was forgotten in the wall for over a century. A note Fesch weather looks like its acquisition of "Portrait of Mona Lisa, mistress of Francis I, Leonardo da Vinci" from Rospigliosi, an influential member of the Roman aristocracy, and remained in his possession until his death. The painting was bought, apparently, Napoleon III, because in the end, to reach the private museum of Count Giuseppe Primol, a descendant of Luciano Bonaparte, one of Napoleon's brothers.

Experts believe that da Vinci made several nude portraits, but they have never been exposed is deemed offensive. It is obvious however that such works have inspired other artists, so like Rafaello, which in 1518 performed nude portrait of his lover.
